In 1984, Tom Slane founded Slane Marine in High Point, North Carolina. The new business venture was in large part due to his success in restoring his own Hatteras yacht. While fishing in a King Mackerel tournament off the coast of Wrightsville beach, a fellow fisherman admired Mr. Slanes great work on his 41 foot Hatteras. The admiring fisherman was so impressed that he asked Mr. Slane to complete the same refurbishment improvements to his Hatteras Yacht as well.
Slane Marine has now developed into a first class yacht refurbisher, specializing in Hatteras yachts. The company is very versatile in boat reconstruction, yacht refurbishment, and much more! Tom Slane operates with a top-notch crew of 10 employees each adding their own custom touch. Each rebuild or refurbishment can take up to five and a half months to two years, depending on the customers specifications.
Tom Slane has a past history with yachts, due to his father Willis Slane being one of the founders of Hatteras yachts, which originated in 1960. Willis Slane and his partners developed the great idea of Hatteras yachts, while enjoying their time at their exclusive Hatteras Marlin Club. Willis Slane passed away in 1964, and the Slane family sold their portion of Hatteras yachts. Now, the third generation of Slane's is being exposed to the industry through Tom's son, Thomas Slane. Thomas is continuing the great Slane tradition with plans to take over Slane Marine in the future.
Port Southern is very fortunate to have great friends and supporters like Slane Marine. This company holds a great family tradition, and we feel very appreciative to be a part of this High Point legacy.
